Ingredients for Tomato Rice Recipe
- 1 cup basmati rice (or any long grain rice)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2-3 large tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp chopped coriander
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/4 tsp red chilli powder (as per your taste)
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- Salt as per taste
How to Make Tomato Rice
1. First of all, wash the rice thoroughly and soak it for 15 minutes.
2. Now heat oil in the pan. Add cumin and temper it.
3. Then fry the chopped onion until it turns golden.
4. Now add ginger and garlic paste and fry some more.
5. Then add finely chopped tomatoes and cook on medium flame until the tomatoes melt.
6. Now add all the spices like turmeric powder, coriander powder and red chilli powder and stir well.
7. Now add salt as per taste and mix.
8. Then add washed rice and water and mix well. Keep in mind that the amount of water should be slightly more than rice.
9. Now cover the pan and cook on low flame for 10-12 minutes, or until the rice is completely cooked.
10. Turn off the gas and add green coriander and serve hot.
